Lil Gator Game (PS5)

$10.99 / £8.79 (-45%)

Lil Gator Game is a compact, jolly adventure that offers up a delightful few hours and calls it there. You explore an island in a non-linear fashion, just messing around, engaging in simple combat, and talking to other residents. It's the playful tone and adorable presentation that makes this short-but-sweet game stand out, making it a great all-ages title.

Penny's Big Breakaway (PS5)

$17.99 / £14.99 (-40%)

As far as 3D platformers go, Penny's Big Breakaway is pretty unique. Largely devoid of combat, this is all about momentum and movement through each colourful stage, but the mechanics and controls will take some getting used to. You use a magical yo-yo to zip around each level, and those that click with the unusual traversal can blitz through stages super fast. Very satisfying once you master it, this cute and unique game is a fun platformer doing something a little different.

Pentiment (PS5)

$9.99 / £7.99 (-50%)

Pentiment is a unique narrative adventure with a stunning art style. Set in 16th century Bavaria, you play as a character who begins an investigation into a murder of which your friend has been accused. Through exploring the setting and chatting with locals, you'll slowly peel back the layers of the mystery as well as interact with the well-observed lives of everyday people. It's a slow-moving but thoughtful and well-executed game.

Persona 5 Royal (PS5)

$23.99 / £19.99 (-60%)

Persona 5 Royal is the definitive version of an outstanding RPG — and it hits a silky smooth 60fps on PS5. The original Persona 5 was already a masterpiece for many, but this greatly enhanced and significantly expanded re-release is basically Persona perfection. Balancing elements of everyday life simulation with amazing turn based combat and a lot of cool dungeon crawling, it's a truly immaculate title. Brilliantly cohesive, refined, and quite possibly the most stylish game in existence.

Planet of Lana (PS5)

$9.99 / £8.49 (-50%)

It might not end up matching the influence of Limbo or the perfectly-judged arc of Inside, but Planet of Lana is a welcome addition to the side-scroller genre on PlayStation regardless. It looks amazing, sounds great, and tells a nice succinct story.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (PS5)

$19.99 / £17.49 (-50%)

Ubisoft proves with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown that it’s arguably at its best when it’s scaling down the size of its games and creating something outside of its open world wheelhouse. Metroidvanias may be ten a penny on PS5, but this well-executed adventure is bursting with exploration and equipped with some of the most satisfying side-scrolling combat you’ll find on Sony’s current-gen system.

Psychonauts 2 (PS4)

$11.99 / £9.99 (-80%)

Double Fine's cult favourite PS2 platformer finally got the full-blown sequel it deserved with Psychonauts 2, and it's excellent. You don't hear much chatter about it, but this is a 3D platformer bursting with imagination, variety, and fun. What's more, it delivers that while also weaving a good story, exploring delicate themes without going overboard. Whether you're a fan of the original or are just looking for a colourful, inventive platformer, Psychonauts 2 is one of PS4's best examples.

RAGE 2 (PS4)

$7.99 / £6.99 (-80%)

RAGE 2's on-foot action is some of the most fun we've had this generation. As a shooter it's undeniably top tier, but the combat constantly has to fight for its rightful place in the spotlight. All the bright pink paint in the apocalypse couldn't stop the game's open world from feeling lacklustre, and the vehicular stuff struggles throughout. RAGE 2 needed the chaos and insanity that its marketing campaign was so eager to push, because we've ended up with a disappointingly safe objective-based grind, in which the excellent combat is the only thing strong enough to string you along.

Rayman Legends (PS4)

$3.99 / £3.19 (-80%)

Originally planned as a Wii U exclusive, the death knell to Nintendo’s ill-fated home console proved positive news for PlayStation fans when it went multiplatform. Building upon the stunning UbiArt Engine of its predecessor, Rayman Legends is a sublime side-scroller from start-to-finish. While not all of the touchscreen gimmicks translate optimally to the DualShock 4, you’ll be hard pushed to find a better platformer than this on PS4.

Riders Republic (PS5)

$9.99 / £8.74 (-75%)

A game that brings something a little different to the sports genre on the PS5, Riders Republic is a Ubisoft open world game with a cycling/skiing/wingsuiting skin. A massively multiplayer online sandbox, filled with both silly and serious challenges, this game is colossal in scale – something it underpins with its outrageous Mass Race competitions. It can look a little ugly and its too-cool-for-school style will grate, but cycling down mountains at 100kmph is still an exhilarating experience.

Scarlet Nexus (PS5)

$8.99 / £6.99 (-85 / -86%)

An intriguing action RPG from Bandai Namco, Scarlet Nexus is a largely solid and stylish romp with a relatively unique combat system. Utilising psychic powers, you can hurl chunks of the environment at your opponents and pull off flashy team attacks alongside your allies. Some of the characters are a bit wishy-washy, but the game's core premise of evolving human brains and the ever-present threat of nightmarish creatures is enough to drive the experience.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (PS5)

$5.99 / £4.94 (-85%)

For a game that was never meant to exist, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a revelation. It has everything a Holmes fan could want; mysteries to unravel, fun dialogue and banter between Holmes and Watson, and plenty of investigations to be had. Playing through with barely any instruction or assistance from the game itself really gives a sense of achievement not often found with other detective games. A compelling and mythical storyline is really the cherry on top of a fantastic, thought-provoking game which will have players exploring every nook and cranny to get to the bottom of the mystery at hand.

Sniper Elite: Resistance (PS5)

$41.99 / £38.49 (-30%)

Sniper Elite: Resistance serves as more of a stopgap than a full-blown sequel to Sniper Elite 5, so much of that experience — including its highs and lows — carries over two and a half years later. Its sniping action truly is elite, but the gunplay surrounding it still needs work. Equally, the Invasion Mode is again a standout while enemy AI remains frustrating at times. It is more of the same. However, when that similarity is a fairly unique model in the first place, Sniper Elite: Resistance just about gets away with it.

SnowRunner (PS4)

$19.99 / £16.49 (-50%)

SnowRunner’s glacial pace won’t appeal to everyone, but this unique haulage simulation manages to transform everyday terrain into an enemy you need to tame. This is a game that’s less about the destination and all about the journey you take; in that sense it’s unmatched, and wildly rewarding in a way that few other open worlders are.

Sonic Frontiers (PS5)

$20.99 / £17.49 (-65%)

With Sonic Frontiers, SEGA decided to play with the traditional formula of the hedgehog's 3D outings, and the result is one of his strongest adventures in a long time. While certainly not without its flaws, this open world spin on the speedy character is refreshing, giving him ample room to run and plenty of opportunities to engage in bite-size platforming challenges. Most importantly, Sonic feels nimble and fun to control — most of the time, anyway. There's definitely some rough edges here, but it's ultimately an enjoyable game that fans of the franchise will adore.

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (PS4)

$13.99 / £12.24 (-65%)

Before , Resistance, and Spider-Man, it was Spyro that gave Insomniac Games its big break on PS1. That first trio of action platformers was wonderful back in the late 90s, but they're even better in Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, a vibrant PS4 remake. It features all three classics with a gorgeous, cartoonish visual makeover and modernised controls. The result is a nostalgic package that equally pleases old fans and new ones alike.

Grabbed Steamworld Build, £8.74 with the extra PS+ saving. No brainer for someone who loved all the other SW games.

Must admit seeing Diablo IV is somewhat tempting...but I'm also reminded it's online only & seemed to get the impression it can't be tackled as a single player/story mode game like entries past?🤔
Did see Octopath Traveller on sale too,but open to opinions on it or its sequel being better games or not...& do have a backlog like Eiyuden Chronicles & Suikoden Collection among other rpgs on the backlog &/or even the likes of Legend of Mana being cheaper too.

Still to work my way through the rest of the sale lists yet.

@Fiendish-Beaver Those bragging rights only costed them around 90 billion dollars. What a W.

Awful sale! It's the same things we got before at the same price or higher.
For example i got Skyrim anniversary for 8 euros a few weeks ago. Now it's going for 19 euros. The oblivion effect i guess. 😂

Having seen several Steam sales, these prices just look very expensive still!

I’m tempted on Sniper Elite, and ONLY after I watched Fleekazoid’s review.

Also, make sure you get Outer Worlds PS4 version, especially if you have a PS5. The PS5 version is really sloppy, the PS4 version is all you need.

Persona 5 Royal is a must-buy for anyone.

I looked at this and the Dark Souls games are also on sale. Some decent titles on this list, would recommend Evil West for some old school action.

@Robocod I think it's online as in it's a live service game but I played it on gamepass a while back and I was able to play it solo no problem.

@Robocod I dunno what gave you the impression D4 can't be played solo. It is 100% solo-able.

@Fiendish-Beaver
3 Microsoft published games out of over 60 and you think thats bragging rights? Games like COD Vanguard and Diablo 2 arent Microsoft games just because they subsequently bought the publisher....
For 70 billion and throwing away their entire hardware platform, you'd and expect them to get something, but thinking that gives you a brag over a platform that has dominated the xbox is beyond my understanding? As an xbox fan I'd far rather they had not spent that money, kept some exclusives and still had a hardware platform that made sense for the future.... but if you think having less than %5 of games in a sale outweighs that crippling loss, well I dont what to say to you...

As usual, some good choices here, but as theres always a big sale, its very difficult to get excited by yet another!

@Robocod Ive soloed Diablo 4, its perfectly playable that way. I cant recommend it though Im afraid, Ive loved previous games but this one felt a huge chore and I was glad to finally finish it and move on.

Come on, @Titntin. You know me, and you know I was not bragging. However, that said, Diablo and CoD are now owned by Microsoft, and regardless of how they obtained them, it is Microsoft that are reaping the rewards from the sales, so I do not accept that point.

It was just a fun little comment because Xbox has historically been accused of having no games, so to be honest, to see even one in the 60 is still an achievement when you consider the thousands of games that are available to play.

Thus, from the following, when bought, the proceeds go to Microsoft:

1. Call of Duty: Vanguard
2. Crash Bandicoot
3. Diablo 2
4. Diablo 4
5. Dishonoured
6. Grounded
7. Pentiment
8. Psychonauts
9. Spyro
10. The Outer World

That, by my reckoning accounts for 16.6% of the games listed, which is pretty good for Microsoft, I would suggest.

It was meant as a light-hearted jest, not a brag, because as you well know, because we speak often, I think Microsoft have done the dirty on Xbox, and it won't be long before their consoles (and probably Game Pass) are but a distant memory. To my mind, Microsoft have absolutely nothing to brag about...

@Fiendish-Beaver Sorry mate, genuinly couldnt see any other reason for your post.
That MS have bought huge publishers and the rights to their games is not contetable, as is the point that they will now benefit from the sale of those games. But you called them MS made games, and I do not accept that at all, many were made long before MS had any involvement.
Someone could now buy all the rights to the Beatles songs, but they will always remain made by the Beatles no matter where new sales money goes. COD vanguard is not and never will be a game made by Microsoft, it was made by activision and will never be an 'xbox made' game.
I'll agree its ironic that xbox became a huge 3rd party publisher and make plenty of cash from selling on playstation. Its also amusing that sony get a 30% cut of all of that too. Funny how it all works out.
I'd still rather abk had never taken place and xbox were a strong platform offering real competition. I think you probably feel similar.
Have a great day.

A decent price on the 'Uncharted' trilogy, at only $9/£8, but they do feel fairly dated gameplay-wise. I happened to be replaying them this week, and while the article author mentions the original game is "a bit shaky", I'd also use that to describe the 2nd game too, which I finished on Normal yesterday.

There were a few combat pinch points in the game, one where I basically had to resort to rushing for the next checkpoint, as I was getting absolutely mowed down by mercs (you can probably guess the sequence). And the final boss battle, that was an exercise in frustration, running around an arena in circles.

The last sections of both 1&2 felt like a bit of a slog, as they add more & more armoured enemies (plus some fairly annoying unique bullet sponges in #2), and my memory of #3 was a similar experience.
I'm psyching myself up for the third game next, then onto 4 and 'Lost Legacy'. I do also have the Vita game, but I played it fairly recently, in the last 12-18 months. I guess I'll see if I'm 'Uncharted' out by the end of 'Lost Legacy'.
